What kind of developer lives in the Carbon ecosystem? Our platform connects you with a diverse audience of skilled builders who in many cases self-identified as possessing skill sets across multiple disciplines.
We've seen an 11% shift since last year with nearly 36% of respondents working at mid to large companies. 64% of our respondents work in companies with 1-50 employees, making us ideal for startups and small businesses targeting this segment.
Below are the preferred collaboration platforms among developers, reflecting trends in team communication and project management. The distribution suggests a mix of structured task management and flexible communication tools, with some platforms significantly more favored than others.
Results show a strong preference for relational databases while also highlighting the presence of NoSQL and in-memory solutions. The distribution reflects varying use cases, from structured data management to high-speed caching and real-time applications.

Developers are trying out a range of AI tools, with a clear focus on coding assistants and generative AI. The data shows a strong preference for chat-based AI and code-completion tools, while some newer options are starting to gain interest in specific areas. We're curious to see what leaders will emerge within 2025!
This year's survey was the first time that we separately surveyed the Carbon Creator Community, a collection of publishers who cater towards the more creative facets of web development, marketing, design & more. Over 71% of Carbon Creators operate within tech-related fields, while arts, entertainment, and education remain important but smaller segments.
